The Tiger Band had another great day of Performances! On Saturday we hosted the annual UIL Solo and Ensemble contest at the High School Campus. On Saturday Smtihville Tiger Band had 15 Ensemble and 1 Soloist advance to the State Level! Performing the hardest music and reciveing the highest rating from the music judge possible! We're super proud of our music students for such a wonderful accomplishment! Congratst to all the performers this last Saturday! We'll be seeing you at State Solo and Ensemble in May!!

Last week, our district came together to honor Holocaust Remembrance Week through meaningful lessons and discussions. Students engaged in thoughtful activities that not only deepened their understanding of this tragic chapter in history but also encouraged reflection on kindness, empathy, and the importance of standing against hate. It was a powerful week of learning, conversation, and remembrance. 🧡🧡

This Saturday the Smithville Junior High Band students got to perform with the Associaton of Texas Small Schools All Region Concert Bands at the Bastrop Performing Arts Center.
24 middle schools and over 500 students auditioned for these bands and Smithville Junior High had 12 students earn a spot! The students practiced from Friday evening to mid-day Saturday before putting on a full concert for a packed house on Saturday evening!
The Smtihville High School Students got to perform with the All Region Jazz Band for this concert as well! We’re super proud of our Smithville students representing our school through their music skill!

REVISED ACADEMIC UIL DATE!!!
Due to the weather, the UIL events for January 21st have been rescheduled for February 3rd..
As planned - students participating in Calculator, Number Sense, Dictionary Skills, Oral Reading, Storytelling, Social Studies, and Chess Puzzle Solving will compete on Monday, January 27th at Smithville Junior High.
Students participating in Art, Impromptu Speaking, Maps Graphs & Charts, Mathematics, Listening Skills, Modern Oratory, Music Memory, Spelling & Science will compete on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3RD, at Smithville Junior High.
There will be concessions available both dates, so please send money with your child if you wish for them to purchase anything.

Hello Tiger Families,
Smithville ISD will return to our normal schedule tomorrow, Wednesday the 22nd. Buses will run at normal times and all activities will resume. This includes our morning and afterschool ACE programs.

Due to the forecast for freezing weather, and out of an abundance of caution for all students and staff traveling to school, Smithville ISD will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 21st. This includes the cancellation of all UIL sporting and academic events. Information about the rescheduling of these activities will be shared as soon as possible.
We will continue to monitor the weather and will send updates about the plan for Wednesday.

Hello Tiger Families!
As the weekend approaches, we’re closely monitoring the upcoming winter weather. The safety of our staff and students is our top priority. In the event of inclement weather conditions, we will make a decision about school resuming on Tuesday no later than 5pm on Monday (1/20). SJHS and SES are excited to be hosting the Tri-District UIL meet again this year! 2nd-8th grade students from Smithville ISD will compete against La Grange and Giddings in several academic UIL events.
Writing events will be completed next Tuesday, January 14th, during class.
