School Picture Day is Next Week!

Parents & Guardians:

Due to TIA testing tomorrow the schedule for our students will be a little different. Please share this schedule with your students.

All students will attend 1st Period as usual.

6th and 7th grade students will test during the 2-4th period time slots. (8:51-11:35)

5th Period (Tiger Time & Lunch) will be normal for all students.

All students will attend their morning classes (2nd -4th periods) in the afternoon.

Here is the schedule by period:

7:55-8:47 - 1st Period (ALL STUDENTS)

8:51-9:43 - 6th Period (8TH GRADERS CLASS & 6/7 TESTING)

9:47-10:39  - 7th Period (8TH GRADERS CLASS & 6/7 TESTING)

10:43-11:35 - 8th Period (8TH GRADERS CLASS & 6/7 TESTING)

11:39-12:47 - 5th Period (Tiger Time & Lunch schedule as usual - ALL STUDENTS)

12:51-1:43 - 2nd Period (ALL STUDENTS)

1:47-2:39 - 3rd Period (ALL STUDENTS)

2:43-3:35 - 4th Period(ALL STUDENTS)

Below you will find the wording from the student dress code. We will begin checking dress code tomorrow and calling home to have clothing brought to school for any student out of dress code. We would greatly appreciate your help in making sure students are following these expectations:

"Dress and Grooming (All Grade Levels) The district’s dress code teaches grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, and minimizes safety hazards. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following: 2026-2027 Dress Code The district’s dress code is designed to enhance the learning environment and build self-confidence. The primary consideration for students in deciding on what to wear and how to groom should be cleanliness, neatness, and appropriateness to the school setting. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:

• Wear shoes appropriate for school activities.

• Wear under garments that are not visible during normal school day activities.

• Wear pants/leggings/yoga pants/bottoms at or above the waist with no under-garments showing.

• Wear sleeveless shirts/tank tops only if the straps are at least as wide as the student’s 3 fingers and shirt sides go up to the underarms.

• Shorts, dresses, and skirts will extend to or past the mid-thigh. Slits no higher than midthigh.

• Visible piercings are limited to the ears or nose. No gauges, plugs, spikes, septum piercings, or nose hoops.

• Hats, caps, bandanas, and head coverings, including hoods, can only be worn outside.

• Inappropriate words or images cannot be written, displayed, expressed or implied. Examples: gang affiliation, violence, illegal activities, drugs/alcohol/tobacco, sexual innuendos, cultural divisiveness, racial intolerance, vulgarity, obscenity, derogatory language, and/or weapons.

• No crop tops, bare midriff shirts, muscle shirts, net shirts, sleepwear, and/or biker shorts.

• No bandanas, hip cloths, or chained wallets.

• Hair, including facial hair, will be clean, well-groomed and not extreme in style, appearance and/or color (ex. neon/fluorescent).

The Administrative Staff at each respective campus has the final authority to determine the appropriateness of student appearance. If the Administrative Staff determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school and return to the classroom. If the problem cannot be corrected at school, the principal will work with the student and parent to obtain an acceptable change of clothing for the student in a way that minimizes loss of instructional time. Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct." (pg. 59-60 of the SISD student handbook)

Please be advised that all athletic events require the use of CLEAR BAGS ONLY. This policy is in place to help ensure the safety and security of everyone in attendance.

Additionally, please note that basketballs, footballs, and toys are NOT permitted at games. Any such items brought to an event will be confiscated.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students, families, and staff. Thank you!

We are excited to announce our first-ever Smithville ISD Tiger Ambassador Academy! SISD wants to bring our families and community into the district to get a "behind the scenes" look with four visits to the district throughout the 26-27 year. The application is open now!

📝We have had a great first two days with our jr. high students! It has been wonderful to see our hallways and classrooms filled with excited kids and the sounds of learning and laughter!  We love having our Tigers back! We look forward to all of the incredible things they will accomplish this year! 📖

🗓️As we head into Friday and look toward next week, here are a few important reminders for our families:

Please look over your child’s syllabi and make sure they have the needed materials to be successful in their learning this year.

• Door’s open at 7:30. 

• Breakfast is served from 7:30–7:50 AM

• Students are considered tardy at 7:55 AM

🚗Arrival/Dismissal Information:

 We realize there are some changes everyone is adjusting to this year! We are thankful for your flexibility and willingness to adjust so we can keep your children safe! Your child’s safety is our greatest concern. 🥰

Dismissal this year is a staggered release as follows:

• 3:35 - Car Riders Released 🚘

• ~3:40 - Bus Riders Released 🚌 

• ~3:45/3:50 Walkers Released (This includes students walking to the HS to meet their parent that works for the district, students walking to the HS to meet an older sibling, and traditional walkers.)🚶🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

  • The drop off has gone very well! 

  • Please try to pull all the way up to the white line and then unload your kids. This helps the line move more smoothly! 

• Pick-up

  • Car riders will need to be picked up from the car line in front of the school

  • Please encourage your students to get their things and get out to the car quickly.

Welcome Coach Tami Combs to Smithville ISD!

Tami has been coaching for 20 years in Cypress, but fell in love with the charm of Smithville and is excited to join Smithville Junior High as the Tech Apps teacher, as well as volleyball coach. She and her husband, Chris, have three children - one graduate and two who will be joining the Tiger Family as students! She will also serve as an assistant tennis coach for SJHS & SHS.

We look forward to her joining our team!

SUMMER FEEDING REMINDER

We are still providing FREE summer meals for the next two weeks! Go to any of our sites Tuesday or Thursday for free meals for your students. The last day for meals will be July 23rd.
