For any 8th grade student interested in trying out for SHS cheerleader next year, there is a MANDATORY parent meeting on Tuesday, February 20th at 6pm in the High School Library. Please make plans to attend. Tryout practices will be March 4th-6th from 3:30-6pm, and tryouts will be during school on March 7th.

Congratulations to our Destination Imagination (DI) teams from SJHS! These students competed in their first ever DI competition this weekend in Austin, TX. Team "Hercules" placed 4th in the Engineering category, the "Old School Gamers" placed 5th in the Technical category, and team "Movin' and Groovin'" placed 5th in the Fine Arts category! We are very proud of all of you!

The Tiger Band is hosting their annual Silent Auction and Chili Supper during their Solo & Ensemble Concert on February 15th from 5p-7p (come-and-go). Please come enjoy some great music and a meal to support our band!

Several of our students had the opportunity to participate in ESC Region 13's "Thank You Notes" project and tell why they are thankful for the teachers at SISD! Next Wednesday, February 7th, the 6th and 8th grade Reading/Language Arts students will be taking their STAAR Stand Alone Field Test. The campus will be closed off to visitors during this time. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Due to continued rainfall, and for the safety of our students and staff traveling home, Smithville ISD is canceling ALL after school activities for Wednesday, January 24th. This includes the ACE Afterschool Program. We will be monitoring the weather and will send out messages if there are other changes. Thank you.
