Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with excitement and anticipation that I am writing this letter to introduce myself as the new Principal of Smithville Junior High. I look forward to serving SJH’s dedicated staff, students, and parents, and I am honored to be a part of our continued growth and success. In my 25 years in education, I have served as a campus-based social worker, reading teacher, English teacher, department chair, instructional specialist, and assistant principal. I have taught 7th through 10th grades and have spent six years as a Middle School administrator. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas (HOOK’EM!) and my Master’s degree from Lamar University.
I am committed to continuing the legacy of success established at SJH by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners, as well as supporting the hard work of our faculty and staff. We will focus on providing academic rigor through continuous, data-driven improvement and developing instructional practices that encourage a growth mindset.
Relationships are key to the success of any school, and I look forward to getting to know you this year. My door is always open!
