Greetings Smithville Tigers,
Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year! We are excited to have you on the Junior High campus, whether this is your first, second, or third year. Junior High is an exciting time for transition. Students are physically, socially, emotionally growing and becoming self-sufficient. Our teachers and staff members are looking forward to assisting in these processes. Our motto this year is "for the kids."
I look forward to seeing your children transition this year and growing into their next grade level.
Coming back from a hybrid year, we want students and parents to feel comfortable returning in person (with or without a mask). Your child's safety is a top priority for us, and we look for a partnership with parents to ensure safety and academic achievement. Due to recent updates in the Texas Legislature, we provide strategic academic interventions to students who did not meet achievement on the previous STAAR tests. If you have not already received a letter home, you will receive notifications regarding intervention opportunities if your child falls into this category. If your child did not take the STAAR test last year, they can either test out to show mastery of the content level or receive academic interventions throughout the year.
Students can enter the building at the front (a car rider) or the back (a bus rider) at 7:30 AM. At the end of the school day, students will exit the same doors they arrived. Parents, please ensure that you are not driving in the back of the building during drop off or pick up at bus drop off.
We look forward to a new beginning, and please do not hesitate to reach out to our teachers and staff members.
GO TIGERS!
