Welcome to Smithville Junior High School!

Dear Families of Smithville Junior High School,

As the principal of Smithville Junior High School, I want to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with the highly qualified and dedicated staff, the wonderful students, and the supportive parents that make up our tiger family. We have finally moved into our new building and are excited for you and the students to see it!

Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum is directly aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. To help each child to achieve his/her fullest potential, the school provides both enrichment and intervention supports for all students.  Additionally, we have an award winning athletic program for your children to be involved in our community.

Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child beyond the educational setting. These benefits are higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, greater maturity, and responsibility. I encourage you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school.

To increase the safety of our campus, please be prepared to show a government issued photo ID upon entry into the building. You will be given a badge that identifies you and the location you will be going within the school. All visitors will be required to wear a school issued badge.

We welcome all our families back to another exciting, challenging year. Communication is a vital component to your child’s success. Teachers can be reached via telephone, email, and conference by appointment. Also, please know that I am available to meet with you in person or talk to you over the telephone to discuss any concerns you may have.  Have a great school year!

Go Tigers!
