Introductory Letter from Dr. Bethany Logan

Dear Parent,

It is with honor and great pleasure that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Smithville Junior High School. I possess over 10 years of middle school/junior high school experience, in addition to having elementary and high school teaching experience. I hold degrees from the University of Texas, Texas State University, and Texas A&M University. I am pleased to be afforded the opportunity to become a part of this community and look forward to our partnership.

Hand in hand we will honor the traditions of the past, while creating a shared vision for the future that promotes collaboration, communication, and the success of all students. As the instructional leader of our school, I whole heartedly embrace the charge of ensuring that all students are prepared with necessary skills to be successful citizens of our community. Our staff will focus on literacy, integrating technology in the classroom, and differentiated instruction in order to raise student achievement. Additionally, our team will work to provide a learning environment that is safe and supportive of students’ emotional and social well-being.

Please know that my door is always open and I welcome your input. Feel free to stop by or make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas that will make the 2015-2016 school year the best yet. Beginning August 1, 2015, I can be reached at (512) 237-2407 or via email at

Also, please join me for coffee on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 8:30 am in the library so that I have the pleasure of meeting you!
